Baker House 1650 – East Hampton

The Baker House 1650 is probably the most beautiful B&B I’ve ever stayed at in all my years of travel.  It is certainly the most magnificent B&B you can find in the most elegant town in Long Island: East Hampton. It’s difficult to compete with the prestige of an an Elizabethan style manor located on Main street, one of the best areas in town. You can take a stroll around the gardens or down to the high-end boutiques which are only a ten minute walk.  Across the street you can visit the quaint 19th century cemetery and a lighthouse, next to a magnificent looking church…it all strangely feels like you’ve been transported to an actual English village green.  Even though the hotel’s building is historic, there’s nothing of modern comfort that is missing. The hotel in it’s homey intimacy only has 7 spacious guest rooms located above the living room (complete with a sitting area, couches, newspapers and a piano).  The basement has a full spa with an indoor swimming pool and sauna.  For breakfast you can eat in the dining nook which feels like you’re a guest at a good friend’s home.  Warm and comfortable accommodations feature upholstered headboards and clean, white linens.  Do I really have to add that for me it was a perfect stay in a perfect hotel?
