I’d heard good things about the Lovage Rooftop above Magnolia restaurant for a while and after a busy spell ended, I was excited to go find out for myself. Taking the elevator up to the rooftop affirmed something I love about some of New York City’s best rooftop venues; the knack for making a room elegant and modern with a backdrop of panoramic city views. In the case of Lovage it’s breathtaking 360 degree views that include a display of the Empire State Building, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Hudson River, and more.
Upon walking up and into Lovage Rooftop along with my friend Emma DeCorsay of the band “I am the Polish Army”, we were greeted by the hostess, a beautiful young lady who knew it was my first time there. She presented us with two small menus for food and drinks. The offerings consisted of choices of specialty cocktails, wine and small bites. I started with chips and freshly made guacamole with the Lovage Tiki which was made with Absolut Elyx Vodka, Elderflower, Pear, Fresh Lemon, Topped with Gingerale. The Lovage Tiki was in an extra large copper pineapple sculpted cup with multiple straws (made as a drink for two). Next up I ordered a Tropical Sling while Emma ordered an Apple of Mai Tai. We each agreed that we loved both of our cocktails but decided to do a switch in the middle of finishing each.
I highly recommend a visit to the Lovage Rooftop. It’s a great place for a weekday drop in after a long day at work or a weekend evening.
